About Us

The GIS Department serves as a centralized mapping and spatial data resource for the City of Berea. The department maintains and updates geographic databases and produces maps that support municipal operations and public access to information.

The department also supports development review, permitting, and regulatory compliance related to stormwater and floodplain management.


Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain spatial databases including street centerlines, address points (911), city limits, zoning, aerial imagery, and infrastructure data
  • Produce maps for City departments including Police, Fire, Public Works, Planning, and Administration
  • Support emergency services with patrol zones, fire districts, hydrant mapping, and response distance analysis
  • Administer the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program
  • Manage FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) mapping and floodplain compliance
  • Provide mapping services and geographic information to the public

GIS supports informed decision-making, efficient service delivery, and regulatory compliance across all City functions.

Apply online for land disturbance and floodplain permits, or participate in the City’s Trash for Cash community stormwater cleanup program.


Reporting & Requests

Report stormwater concerns, request a new or verified address, or obtain available maps, GIS data, and other mapping information from the City.
